The Isiqalo Foundation (UK) supports educational and health awareness initiatives in South Africa focusing on HIV awareness and skills creation, including the award winning Waves for Change programme.

  • Mission statement

    The Isiqalo Foundation UK supports sporting / sport for development programmes working with disadvantaged youth in the Western Cape of South Africa. A key focus is put on HIV/AIDS education as well as Gender Awareness, Violence Prevention and Social Inclusion for at-risk youth.

    The Isiqalo Foundation UK supports programmes that focus on the development of peer educators over a sustained period of time, and that work to empower youth and youth leaders to address issues endemic to their communities.

    The Isiqalo UK believes in the power of sport to unite communities and looks to support programmes that use innovative and alternative sports to engage at-risk youth. An example of which is the Waves for Change programme which uses surfing to develop peer leaders in the townships of the Western Cape to fight the HIV pandemic.

    The Isiqalo foundation aims to:

    • Fund programs in the disadvantaged communities of the Western Cape of South Africa that facilitate and promote the empowerment and development of children and young adults and educate about HIV/AIDs
    • Raise funds for the Waves for Change programme - an award winning HIV/AIDS education programme which uses surfing to teach at-risk youth about HIV and develop peer educators in the Western Cape of SA
