IAC was established in 1997 and is a registered adoption agency specialising in intercountry adoption, professional and adoptive parent/ family training, advice line and intermediary service.

  • Mission statement

    Intercountry Adoption Centre is a registered charity and voluntary adoption agency, and the only specialist centre for intercountry adoption in the UK.

    We offer a variety of services to intercountry adoptees, to prospective and established adopters, to birth families and to professionals. These services include adoption support, adoption agency services, support to professionals working in the field of intercountry adoption, and linking services for adoption from other countries (currently India, and in progress for China).

    Intercountry Adoption Centre aims to:

    • TO ADVANCE THE WELFARE OF CHILDREN THROUGH PUBLIC EDUCATION IN INTERCOUNTRY ADOPTION PARTICULARLY , BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY, THROUGH THE PROVISION OF ADVICE, INFORMATION, CONSULTATION AND TRAINING SO AS TO BENEFIT CHILDREN ADOPTED, OR TO BE ADOPTED FROM OVERSEAS.
    • TO PROMOTE THE EDUCATION, RELIEF AND REHABILITATION OF PERSONS WHO BY REASONS OF THEIR HAVING BEEN ADOPTED FROM OVERSEAS ARE IN NEED, HARDSHIP OR PHYSICAL OR EMOTIONAL DISTRESS,
