the Angelus Foundation

The Angelus Foundation works to educate and encourage young people, their parents and their educators to become knowledgeable about the physical and psychological dangers of “legal” highs.

Founded 2010

  • Mission statement

The Angelus Foundation's mission is to raise awareness that can help society to understand the dangers of unclassified substances, to reduce the harm these substances cause young people and their families and to save lives.

Our aim is to educate, encourage and assist young people, their parents, educators, health-care professionals, the police and policy-makers, to become more informed and knowledgeable about the risks to health and well-being of using 'legal highs' and other harmful social substances, including alcohol, in order that young people may be ever more responsible for the choices they make and as a result lead more wholesome and safer lives.

  • Aims

    the Angelus Foundation aims to:

    • The support of interventions proven to make a difference to the habits and behaviours of young people with regard to "legal" highs and other social substances.
    • To become the "Knowledge Centre" for the most up-to-date information on "legal" highs, accessed by policy makers, police, health-care professionals, educators, A&E, parents and young people.
    • The advancement of education and health by promoting understanding and awareness of the dangers of "legal" highs and new synthetic substances that can be harmful, highly addictive and lead to death.
    • To establish the "Angelus Laboratory", the first lab in Europe to systematically monitor and analyse the content and purity of all new synthetic substances and devise Reference Standards.
