access and participate in social support and activities

  • Mission statement

    Finsbury & Clerkenwell Volunteers have been working in the south of Islington for nearly 40 years providing a wide range of services that meet the needs of isolated older people and people with disabilities.

    Activities include:
    * Individual visits to isolated people including 'pushing out' wheelchair users
    * Ring-a-round Telephone support club for isolated people
    * Driving and escorting on the group's two wheelchair accessible
    ambulances
    * Assisted shopping trips with escorts provided for those otherwise unable to shop
    * Running a twice-weekly lunch club
    *Outings and holiday visits to the group's holiday home in Essex

    We provide a wide range of opportunities for volunteers, many of whom have subsequently found employment.

    • To relieve those in the area who are in need, hardship and distress as a result of age, disability or otherwise by providing a range of support services & improve the quality of life of such people
