Furnival Burngreave Community Projects

We work with vulnerable young people between the ages of 11 and 16 who are not engaging with full time education. Some of our young people find themselves excluded or at risk of exclusion while others are referred because of their poor attendance when they are finding the social context of school very difficult. Many of our young people come from Sheffield’s most socially and economically disadvantaged neighbourhoods and have complex needs, including phobias, extreme anxiety, and other mental health issues; learning and/or behavioural difficulties; family trauma, abuse or neglect.
We provide safe, nurturing space where young people can learn and develop. We do this work by providing individually personalised programmes of engagement based on young people’s strengths and interests. We aim to build self esteem and confidence and promote positive social interaction which supports young people’s re-engagement with learning.
