StreetGames

A youth sports charity changing lives and communities in disadvantaged areas by supporting a network of projects offering sport at the right time, right place, for the right price in the right style.

Founded 2007

  • Mission statement

StreetGames is all about getting disadvantaged young people active. Our style is ‘doorstep sport’ where we take sport and its life-changing potential right to the doorstep of communities that need it most. Young people growing up in poverty are disadvantaged by lower aspirations, less qualifications, high rates of ill health, unemployment and crime. These inequalities carry over into sport, where underprivileged young people play sport half as much as their more affluent peers. However the demand is higher in poor areas – the problem is a lack of coaches, facilities, clubs and money.

StreetGames has enjoyed great success and growth since 2007. We have created a close family of over 250 like-minded organisations who share our passion, vision and have already provided doorstep sport to over 200,000 disadvantaged young people. We had a tremendously successful Olympic year generating a genuine legacy of new participation and our award winning programmes in youth volunteering, training, events, girls only and health continue to thrive.

This is an exciting time for StreetGames. Over the next 4 years we will:

    - get another 160,000 disadvantaged young people participating
    - create 1000 new Doorstep Sport Clubs in the UK
    - train 12,000 new young volunteers
    - train 30,000 new coaches
    - engage 100,000 young people in our extensive tournament and festival programme
    - set up 400 projects to tackle health and community safety
