Hull & East Riding Institute for the Blind

HERIB (Hull and East Riding Institute for the Blind) is a registered charity which aims to help and support the changing needs of all people with sight loss in the Hull and East Riding area.

The charity offers both practical and emotional support to the blind and partially sighted through a variety of services including:

• Day centres including lunch and activites
• Home visiting service
• Resource centre
• Mobile resource service
• Eye clinic support worker
• Braille transcription services
• Beech Holme Court sheltered accommodation

Originally established in 1864, HERIB now provides support services to almost 2,500 visually impaired local people. In total we were able to offer support and assistance to people with visual impairments on more than 17,000 occasions.

HERIB receives no government funding and relies solely on donations to continue its vital work.
