Stevenage and North Herts Women's Resource Centre

The Stevenage and North Herts Women’s Resource Centre is a voluntary organisation providing a safe, confidential, women only environment, for women aged 18 upwards. The Centre offers information and support on women’s issues, as well as a range of free services which include: telephone support, one to one support appointments, vocational and educational guidance, therapeutic support groups, drop-in sessions, a domestic violence project that offers information, advice, support and befriending, advocacy, self development courses, a solicitor’s surgery and various social activities for women. The Centre also offers a quality short and long term low cost counselling service. There is also a free crèche facility for tall the women that use the Centre.

The organisation was first established in 1995 and has the following objectives:

a) To advance the education of women by the provision of educational and training facilities and opportunities for volunteering,
b) To relieve women who are in need by the provision of advice and information,
c) To provide or assist in the provision of facilities for recreation and other leisure time occupation for such women in the interests of social welfare and with a view to improving their conditions of life.
