Jeevika Trust works in villages in India where 70% of Indians still live. We support people on the margins of rural society, building sustainable prosperity and development through village livelihood.
It was Mahatma Gandhi who said, ‘if the villages perish, India will perish. ' Jeevika Trust is committed to tackling the roots of poverty in India which lie in its 600,000 villages by revitalizing rural communities, promoting inclusive, harmonious sustainable development, and creating and sharing appropriate knowledge. We are focused on marginalised people - low-caste and tribal people, especially women - helping them to keep village life viable in the face of today's huge challenges and India's race for global status. Our projects are aimed at building sustainable prosperity and development through community, family and individual livelihoods.
Jeevika Trust aims to:
- work towards an India without absolute poverty where all people have the opportunity to live with dignity, free from hunger, deprivation and marginalisation.
