Children's Respite Trust

The Children's Respite Trust provides respite for disabled children and support for their families throughout Sussex, Surrey and Kent.

Founded 2010

  • Mission statement

The Children's Respite Trust exists to help families with disabled children to do the things that the rest of us often take for granted while ensuring the children themselves can enjoy life to the best of their abilities at the same time.

The Trust helps the children to access regular activities or one off breaks designed to keep them stimulated and have a great time, while their parents can have some time to do something usually quite normal, such as spending time with their other children or even simply getting a good night's sleep.

The Trust achieves this in three ways:

Advocacy - a team of volunteer caseworkers ensures that families are receiving the support to which they are entitled from the state. This way we can be sure that we are not simply replacing the work of the government.

Funding Respite - Sometimes the Trust can fund a stay at a private respite centre when a family is in particular need of a longer break.

Community Care - our team of trained and dedicated carers enable the children to access activities in their community as well as putting on activities of our own which can be enjoyed by groups of children.

  • Aims

    Children's Respite Trust aims to:

    • to provide respite and support for the families of disabled children.
    • to ensure that the children remain stimulated and are able to enjoy life while their parents are getting a break.
    • to ensure that the families are receiving their statutory entitlement before additional support is provided by the Children's Respite Trust.
