The Flicka Foundation

To promote humane behaviour towards animals and in particular horses and donkeys, by providing appropriate care, protection, treatment and security for animals which are in need of care and attention by reason of sickness, maltreatment, poor circumstances or ill usage, and to educate the public in matters pertaining to animal welfare in general and the prevention of cruelty and suffering among animals.

We consider our sanctuary to be of significant benefit in the community, accommodating volunteers of all ages, from all walks of life, work experience placements from all schools in the area as far as the Duchy college, we accommodate restricted learning ability, adults and youngsters, work in the community, placements for rehabilitation for those who have suffered various illnesses, strokes, heart attacks, or cognitive problems. We encourage visits from the elderly and residential homes, as well as having children and teenagers here throughout the year to learn and have hands on experience with the animals, we also hold talks on and off site to various ‘groups’ like the W. I. And of course we encourage volunteers of all ages to get up close and personal with the animals.
