Gobo Theatre Foundation

We support, mentor & inspire young people in the theatrical arts with a focus on ensuring that opportunities are not only available to those who can afford them.

Founded 2010

  • Mission statement

We work to ensure young artists are paid for what they do, rather than having to follow the no/lo-pay path which carries with it the need for financial support from family.
We also believe the skills learnt in the theatre are invaluable to young people. Problem solving, creativity, team working, confidence are vital to any workplace, home or social situation so we run a youth theatre for children where they are involved in all aspects of the production, not just performing to help them learn these transferable skills. Money raised helps us subsidise some more young people from low income families to take part in our youth theatre programme. The arts should be open to all, not just those that can afford it.

  • Aims

    Gobo Theatre Foundation aims to:

    • We will provide a safe yet challenging first theatrical job experience for young performers and equip them with valuable life skills that will help them in their future careers.
    • Our mission is to mentor and support young people aged 18-25 as they start a career in theatre while paying them a fair wage.
    • We will also educate children and provide training for businesses and community through parallel Theatre in Education and Theatre in Business activities.
