Disability Advice Service Lambeth

DASL (Disability Advice Service Lambeth) is an independent Disabled People’s Organisation (DPO) set up in 2001, which works with, and on behalf of, people with all types of impairments and long-term health conditions. We also provide services to carers and older people. Our objectives are the rights, equality and inclusion of disabled people.

Founded 2001

  • Mission statement

Our mission is to enable disabled people and carers in Lambeth to be in control of their lives, to be able to make the choices that many take for granted. We advise and help them obtain the services and income to which they are entitled, to make choices about how and where they live and to play an active role in their communities.

Our role is to provide a range of high quality information and advice, direct payments and self directed support and user involvement services to enable this to happen.

    Our current services include:
    Professional Advocacy
Advice Casework for Mental Health Service Users
Support with Personal Budgets / Direct Payments
Community Development Work with Disabled People
    Stroke Peer Support Network
‘Into Sport’ Project for Disabled People
    Disability Hate Crime Advocacy

DASL is a key partner in the Lambeth Independent Living and Carers’ Partnership (ILCP). It is provided by four local charities - Age UK Lambeth, DASL, South Thames Crossroads and Lambeth Mencap, working also with Royal Association for Deaf People (RAD). The service is funded by Lambeth Council.

The ILCP offers a wide range of services to older people, people with physical and sensory impairments, adults with learning disabilities, those with long-term illnesses and carers, including young carers.
