  • Mission statement

Our aim is to provide housing, emotional support and to create new opportunities, such as therapeutic training, for people who want to turn their lives around from homelessness and/or any addictive lifestyle. This is achieved in the context of a family environment and with a Christian ethos.

Morning Star provides clients with high support or intensive support needs with the opportunity to discover and try out new coping strategies and life skills in a safe and supported environment with a high ratio of staff to client numbers in order that optimum results can be achieved for individuals.

We run two main projects :
    1) a soup run giving out over 5000 meals a year.

    2) a small residential unit, where those who want to turn their lives around from drugs and alcohol come and live as part of a real family, There is one to one support to help them work through a programme which includes therapeutic organic gardening, small animal husbandry and supervised work in the local community, therapeutic art, counselling. We run our own 12 step meeting and use Cognitive Behaviour therapy to help our residents deal with the underlying issues in their lives.
We have recently raised money to buy a wooden building which we use as a resource centre, this is used by the residents and those people we feed at the soup run (Banquet Run) for teaching in IT, art and craft work, discussion and training groups.
