Family Refugee Support Project

We work with refugee and asylum-seeking families, who are struggling to deal with their experiences of persecution and exile. We aim to improve the mental and physical well-being of the whole family.

Founded 2003

  • Mission statement

The Family Refugee Support Project is dedicated to improving, preserving and protecting the mental health of refugee and asylum seeking families in Merseyside through the provision of counselling, using horticulture as a therapeutic medium.

We work with families who have suffered the traumatising effects of war, torture and displacement. Through our work with parents we seek to improve the life chances and mental health of children.

We provide holistic care through therapeutic horticulture and social support. We work with families on allotments around Liverpool, including a Women's Plot, in addition we have begun work on our new communal garden. Each family has their own piece of land on which to work with the support of a horticulturist and a therapist. We also provide social and practical support at our office based in Toxteth, Liverpool.

FRSP works to a distinctive ethos and set of values. Respect for cultural and religious differences, honouring client's choices and independence are key principles.
