SHP (Single Homeless Project)

SHP is a London-wide charity working to prevent homelessness and help vulnerable and socially excluded people to transform their lives.
First established in 1975 by a group of homeless men, today we support some of London’s most vulnerable people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, through the provision of both supported housing and community-based support.

Founded 1977

  • Mission statement

Our mission is to prevent homelessness and help vulnerable and socially excluded people to transform their lives. Our vision is to work toward a society in which everyone has a place to call home and the chance to lead a fulfilling life. We do this by providing community-based support and specialist hostel accommodation, as well as promoting wellbeing, enhancing opportunity and being a voice for change. Our staff work with individuals to tackle the underlying causes of homelessness, such as poor mental health, family breakdown, offending or drug and alcohol dependency. From supporting people in crisis to helping people to take the final steps toward independence and employment, we make a difference to 7,000 lives every year. We put the needs and views of the people we work with at the centre of everything we do, from how we design services to how we interact with service users. We work with our clients as equals, in a spirit of trust and mutual respect.
