South London Special League

Improve the health and wellbeing of disabled people young and old through sporting activities.
Our most important outcomes are to engage disabled people in apprpriate activities to have fun and gain self confidence, make new friends and enjoy being an asset to the community. We aim to prevent disabled people leading lonely, inactive and isolated lives that tend to rely on the NHS as they are more likely to suffer from poor health.

Founded 2004

  • Mission statement

To provide regular, competitive sport for people with disability at whatever level they are able to access the game. This depends on their ability not their disability.
To raise the awareness and involvement of the local communities to the skill of the players and their determination to succeed.
To address the lack of provision and opportunities within the community for the disabled at the grass roots. Particularly to reach out to the needs of matginalised disabled groups whatever their ethnicity, religion ability or gender.
To reflect the Fair Play in all aspects of competition withpout losing sight of the importance of winning.
To increase motination by heightened levels of fitness, improved self-esteem and raised aspirations.
To open up the world of sport to these players and hence improve their lives by increasing their expectations and broadening their experience.
