The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is one of the largest, most diverse providers of social services in the UK after the Government. Founded in East London in 1865, we are now working in 120 countries worldwide. As a church and registered charity, we demonstrate our Christian principles through social welfare provision.

The Salvation Army is always on the front line, providing relief and helping people who are experiencing difficulties. Every day we work with various groups in communities: older people, families, young people, those suffering from addiction issues and the homeless. We are committed to changing their circumstance and improving their situations for the better through expanding and developing our services in new and pioneering ways. The public recognize our ‘strong caring nature’, ‘willingness to roll up our sleeves’ and our striving to ‘understand... The needs of people today’.
