Stage One

Stage One is dedicated to supporting new producers and productions in order to sustain the future of quality commercial theatre in this country. The charity runs a series of education and hands-on training programmes designed to identify and develop emerging commercial theatre producers. Importantly these initiatives are intrinsically linked to the commercial theatre industry and provide professional mentoring and support. The organisation also runs bursary and investment schemes to kick start the careers of the most outstanding new producers each year.

‘The Stage One bursary was the single most important step towards my becoming a producer. It gave me the confidence to put on a show in the West End. The help, advice and financial support enabled me to take myself seriously as a producer and worked to demystify the whole intimidating process of producing theatre. ’ Matthew Byam Shaw, Producer, Playful Productions
