Rain Rescue

Founded in 2002, our charity saves the lives of thousands of the dogs and cats most at risk in and around Yorkshire. Our rescue centre provides the space and support needed for these abandoned animals to recover, thrive and find a loving home.

Our focus is on the pets and their owners who find themselves in crisis situations such as abandonment, eviction, bereavement and terminal illness.

  • Mission statement

Rain Rescue has been established for 16 years and is now one of the South Yorkshire’s leading animal rescue charities. It’s core purpose is the provide a reputable rescue centre to its local community help pets and owners in times of crisis through the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of dogs and cats.

Our primary service is rescue (taking into our care) dogs and cats who no longer have a home of their own. Most often these are dogs at risk of being put to sleep in local authority kennels, and cats and kittens abandoned on the streets. We also support in the rescue of animals who can no longer stay in their current homes due to circumstances affecting pet owners such as bereavement, illness, eviction, financial hardship and other crisis situations.

In addition we will take animals deemed by their owners no longer suitable to live with them if we believe no other reasonable solution can be found.

We work alongside a number of national animal welfare charities in order to provide rescue places for these animals including those that remain here with ourselves or placed at elsewhere.

Our ultimate goal is to find loving new homes for the animals in our care. We work on a match making basis in order to ensure the most successful adoptions we can. Considering both the needs of the animal and adopter are met.
