  • Mission statement

The Belfast & District Set Dancing & Traditional Music Society is a registered charity and has been providing tuition in Irish music and dance since 1991. Our main objective is to promote the knowledge, practice and love of these and related traditional arts to all members of the community regardless of age, background or ability, through the provision of open and affordable events set in a neutral and accessible environment.

We are a cross-community organisation run by an all-volunteer committee with no paid administrative staff. We aim to provide the highest quality frontline services of arts provision to our sector as efficiently as possible. At 36 classes per week, we are the single largest client of the Crescent Arts Centre in Belfast However we also run events elsewhere.

We are unique in our sector in that the age of our membership ranges from 7 to over 80. While continuously looking to reach out to young people we are very proud of our support by, and of, older members of the community.
