CWA began life 37 years ago with one safe house; it now has three houses providing temporary safe accommodation for women and children fleeing domestic abuse. CWA also runs an outreach service.

  • Mission statement

    Promote the welfare of women and children fleeing domestic abuse.
    * Currently we operate three safe houses with 20 housing units, including 1 wheelchair accessible and 3 self contained units accommodating maximum of 19 women and 32 children and young people at any one time.
    * We provide dedicated residential and children’s support services, as well as resettlement/follow up service for families moving into independent living.

    CWA also provides a much needed outreach service to women and men living in/moving to Croydon area who are fleeing /suffering from domestic abuse.

    Support workers provide advice, support and information to families to enable them to start new lives and make independent and informed choices about their future free from abuse. CWA provides specialist services for up to 32 children and young people living in the refuge including mentoring, play-sessions, homework club, and holiday outings.

    Croydon Women's Aid aims to:

    • To provide skilled practical help, advice and emotional support to enable service users to return to independent living.
    • To provide safe temporary accommodation for women and children fleeing domestic abuse.
    • Influence, contribute to and encourage the development and of public policy and good practice relevant to domestic abuse.
