To support young people in care by providing supported housing, alternative education and mentoring. We provide a door of opportunity to the most vunlerable young people in Manchester
Founded in 1895 Manchester Settlement provides a door of opportunity and support to young people when they have no-one else to turn to. Many of the young people we work come from families in crisis and are at the cusp of going into care or are at risk of turning to offending. We help young people to turn their lives around. We equip young people with the skills and knowledge to reach their full potential and make the right choices in life. We give young people a chance when no-one else will.
We do this by providing education and support to young people aged 14-16 who are falling out of mainstream schools. Helping young people at risk aged 16-24 to live independently in their first home, many of whom are leaving care and have no family support
Alongside our support for young people, we provide childcare to support parents back into work, pro-bono legal advice and a wide range of cross generational community activities.
Manchester Settlement aims to:
- To provide learning opportunities, childcare and community activities in one of the most deprived neighbourhoods in Engalnd
- To provide support to young people leaving care so they can live independently
- To provide a door of opportunity for some of the most vulnerable young people in Manchester
