The Shakespeare Hospice

The Shakespeare Hospice cares for patients, carers & their family members affected by life limiting illnesses in South Warwickshire & the North Cotswolds.

Founded 1997

  • Mission statement

Our purpose is to help adults with a life limiting illness to live in as fulfilled & creative a way as possible; to offer care that is family-centred & to enable people to die at home in dignity & comfort.

In fulfilment of these purposes the care & support available at the Day Hospice is designed to help our patients live in a more fulfilled & creative way: specialist nurses help patients manage their symptoms & pain; occupational & physiotherapists help increase mobility & independence; the wide range of complementary services on offer, including our diversional therapy work, can provide patients with a diversion from their pain or a creative outlet for their feelings while the chaplaincy & counselling services can offer an opportunity to safely explore the feelings & questions which can arise as a result of life limiting illness.

Life limiting illness does not just affect the person who is unwell; it affects the entire family. For this reason, all our services are also available to carers & family members as well as an additional bereavement support service to help families after a patient’s death. We have special services for children and young people including children's bereavement support and a young carers service.

We know the number of people who wish to receive their end of life care at home is greater than the numbers for whom that is a reality & the Hospice’s specially trained team of Hospice at Home nurses enable more people to die at home, with dignity.
