Charity information

Azafady is a UK registered charity and Malagasy NGO working on health, conservation and sustainable development projects in the southeast of Madagascar.

Madagascar is the 4th largest island in the world. With over 70 per cent of its 19 million inhabitants living on less than $1 a day, it's one of the poorest countries in the world. In terms of the biological diversity and uniqueness of its plant and animal species, Madagascar remains among the richest places on the planet - this natural wealth, though, is threatened by the extreme poverty of the human population. People on the island have limited means of survival, and only a small minority have access to clean water, health care and sanitation. With about 90% of its forest now gone, and most of its species found nowhere else on earth, Madagascar is recognised as one of the planet’s top conservation priorities.

Supporting some of the world's most vulnerable people and most threatened and irreplacable environments, Azafady runs a wide range of projects in the Anosy region of the southeast.
