Black and Minority Ethnic Young People's Project

The Black and Minority Ethnic Young People's Project is a youth led charity that provides access to information, support and guidance through informal educational activities.

Founded 2005

  • Mission statement

We support Black and Minority Ethnic young people aged 11 to 25 in Brighton and Hove and surrounding areas.

The majority of young people have been victims of racism and bullying and we engage them in activities which develop their self esteem and confidence as well as life and social skills and positive cultural identities. We aim to challenge prejudice and build community cohesion.

We are a youth led organisation and the young people participate at all levels of the organisation. The Management Committee is made up of young people under 26. Young people are enabled to develop, deliver and evaluate the organisation's projects, activities and events.

    Our activities include
    Weekly Drop in sessions
    Mentoring Project
Football Development Projects for young men and women
    Girls and Young Women's Group
    Arts and Cultural Workshops
    Holiday Youth Activities
    BME Histories Projects
Opportunities to volunteer through BME Youth and Sports Champions Project
    Schools BME Young People's Groups
