Greater London Fund for the Blind

The Greater London Fund for the Blind, alongside our nine member charities and a wide selection of grass-roots organisations (who deliver specialist projects), provides support and access to vital services and employment opportunities for blind and partially sighted people across Greater London. Every year, through our fundraising and the joint efforts of our member charities, we support roughly 50,000 blind and partially sighted people to live their lives to their full potential.

  • Mission statement

Working with a diverse group of sight loss charities, the mission of the Greater London Fund for the Blind (GLFB) is to improve the lives of blind and partially sighted people of all ages through our fundraising.

GLFB raises vital funds to support a wide range of services – delivered at the local level by our member charities.

With around 200,000 people impacted by sight loss in London, the requests for specialist support assistance is growing. For many of these individuals, sight loss brings isolation, vulnerability and lack of independence.

The GLFB, together with our nine member charities are working to change this. Whether it is providing specialist support to a family with a blind child, employment skills training to a young adult or social clubs for an isolated older person, our aim is to improve lives by helping individuals overcome many of the problems associated with sight loss.

We also fund a wide range of specialist projects delivered by grass-roots organisations across Greater London. These projects help blind and partially sighted people of all ages to access a wide range of opportunities and services such as receiving specialist music tuition and lunch clubs for example to help people develop skills, gain confidence and ultimately to help empower people to live their live to the full.
