The Rainforest Foundation UK

The Rainforest Foundation protects rainforests by helping secure land rights for indigenous forest peoples and influencing national and international laws to protect rainforests and their inhabitants.

Founded 1989

  • Mission statement

The mission of the Rainforest Foundation is to support indigenous people and traditional populations of the world's rainforests in their efforts to protect their environment and fulfil their rights to land, life and livelihood.

Our approach differs from that of other organisations, we are committed to both human rights and environmental protection.

The Rainforest Foundation has protected over 117,000 square kilometres of forest following this approach.

In 2014, of every £1 we spent, 93. 7p was spent on our charitable projects.

  • Aims

The Rainforest Foundation UK aims to:

    • Securing the natural resources necessary for their long-term wellbeing and managing these resources in ways which do not harm their environment, violate their culture or compromise their future.
    • Developing means to protect their individual and collective rights and to obtain, shape and control basic state services.
    • We work to support indigenous peoples (IPs) and traditional rainforest populations to protect their environment and fulfill their rights to land, life and livelihood and assisting them in:
