Action for M.E.

Action for M. E. ’s purpose is to end the ignorance, injustice and neglect experienced by people with M. E. We take action now to improve the lives of people affected by M. E. While working to create a greater understanding of the illness so that children, young people and adults alike can access the care and support they need and deserve.

Founded 1987

  • Mission statement

Our vision is a world without ME

Our mission is to empower people with ME to fulfill their full potential and secure the care and support they need, while working towards a greater understanding of the illness and ultimately a cure.

We provide services now to improve lives while taking action to secure change for the future. People with ME are at the heart of everything we do. People who access our services tell us that they feel less isolated and part of a community, and we are starting to see increased recognition of the impact of ME among the press, public, professionals and policy-makers. However there is still a long way to go. Everything we do over the next five years will be in service of achieving three goals which will help tackle the challenges faced by people with ME (see charitable aims).

  • Aims

    Action for M.E. aims to:

    • Improve the lives of people with M.E. by reducing isolation through the provision of direct services including welfare advice and support, children's specialist services, peer support and mentoring.
    • Inspire action at all levels by raising awareness and fighting the stigma and misunderstanding faced by people with M.E.
    • Invest in change through funding a PhD studentship and a Fellowship to increase potential and support the next generation of researchers to work towards our vision of a world without M.E.
