The Partnership Council - Nottingham

The Partnership Council is a community charity in Nottingham. We work very closely with local people, and those living in other areas of the city and provide a wide range of volunteering opportunities

Founded 1998

  • Mission statement

We work in disadvantaged areas of Nottingham to get local people involved in improving their area and the lives of people living there. Our work is geared around volunteering and self help and includes the following type of projects.
    1. Base Camp: supports mainly Asian women who speak little English to help them run activities for their local community such as healthy cookery classes, a Muslim girls group and aerobics classes.
    2. Sprout: Supports young people aged 16-25 years of age to set up and run their own environmental project.
    3. Community Garden: Got local people involved in clearing a piece of waste land and turning it into a community garden.
    4. Green Power team: Supporting unemployed Nottingham City residents through unemployment and helping them get back into work, as well as gaining qualifications, transferrable skills and re-gaining confidence

  • Aims

The Partnership Council - Nottingham aims to:

    • Improve the local environment through our own projects and by supporting local people and their projects and ideas.
    • Support local community and voluntary organisations, such as residents’ groups, who often hold the key to improving and transforming communities.
    • Encourage and enable people to volunteer - as a way of improving their lives, neighbourhoods and the lives of others.
    • Give people a voice and the support they need to influence local decision making - as a way of ensuring people engage with and are proud of where they live.
