Kernow Positive Support

KPS is a registered charity which supports people living with or affected by HIV and AIDS in Cornwall.

Founded 2004

  • Mission statement

KPS empowers those newly diagnosed with, and people living with, HIV to take responsibility for their life by providing information, advice and guidance in tandem with their medical treatment.

We also educate young people and adults on how to protect themselves and prevent the onward transmission of HIV.

We offer advocacy, representation, training, financial and housing advice, counselling, therapies, drop-in opportunities, peer support, hardship funds and awareness raising workshops.

Our clients have a wide and complex range of problems and we sometimes have to deal with very serious situations, always with discretion and client confidentiality in mind.

Due to the stigma and discrimination surrounding HIV and AIDS, it is so important that services such as HIV Awareness Training are offered to all front-line staff and school pupils. It is our aim that this will help to fight against the stigma associated with HIV and AIDS.

  • Aims

    Kernow Positive Support aims to:

    • The relief of sickness and distress of persons affected by HIV/AIDS, and their families and carers, by the provision of advice, information, care support and counselling services.
    • The provision of education and training to members of the public in the needs of persons living with HIV/AIDS, with a view to promoting a better understanding of the disease.
