Since 2001, Ignite Trust has been working in the London Borough of Harrow with at risk and vulnerable young people (aged 13-19) from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Ignite Vision: A Society where young people are positively engaged in their communities
Ignite Mission: To engage, empower and transform young people by creating positive communities of change*, based around their interests and needs.
We do this through:
Offering activity and education based programmes which engage young people
Building positive relationships and mutual support to empower individuals
Raising expectations for the future to transform lives for the long term
* Communities of change occur when people are committed to respecting, supporting and encouraging each other, irrespective of background, culture or belief. These positive relationships [communities] form the foundation of a healthy society. They change individuals and they encourage change in their linked communities of family, friends, school and neighbourhood.
Engage: Making meaningful contact
Empower: Equipping a young person with the tools, resources and opportunities to make positive choices in their current situations.
Transform: Challenging values and behaviour, and modelling alternatives, so that young people can change the direction of their lives.
Ignite Trust aims to:
- • offering programmes which engage young people • building positive relationships and mutual support to empower individuals • raising expectations for the future to transform lives for the long term.
