  • Mission statement

    To raise funds to ensure that every premature and sick newborn baby cared for in the Winnicott Baby Unit, St Mary's Hospital and the neonatal unit, Queen Charlotte's Hospital receives the most appropriate care to give the best developmental outcome by supporting and funding programmes, materials, equipment and grants that:

    - ensure staff have the most appropriate equipment and funding for training to help to save the lives of and give the best future to babies
    - give families the help and support they need to be with their babies and take part in the care of their babies
    - help to support mothers to provide breast milk for their babies
    - support the developmental care approach that can help with better long term outcomes for premature babies
    - support research that can improve care for babies

    The Winnicott Foundation aims to:

    • To support families to be with their babies while they are in the neonatal unit and take part in the care of their babies
    • To improve care for premature and sick newborn babies at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington and Queen Charlotte's Hospital, Hammersmith, London
    • To help improve the developmental outcomes of babies born sick or prematurely and needing neonatal care
    • To help to save the lives of more premature and sick newborn babies
