Accessible Arts & Media (AAM)is an award-winning charity connecting communities, people with disabilities and young people across York and North Yorkshire through the arts and new media.

    Our mission is to develop and deliver a vibrant range of accessible, inclusive, high quality and affordable projects for vulnerable groups that push boundaries, enhance personal progression and challenge stereotypes.

    Our vision is for an inclusive society where the talents and aspirations of everyone, disabled and not disabled can be celebrated through the arts and digital media regardless of their circumstances.

    AAM has an exemplary track record spanning thirty years and throughout this time our specialist activities have been designed to ensure that the voices and abilities of disadvantaged and vulnerable groups are recognised by the wider community.

  • Aims

    Accessible Arts and Media aims to:

    • To raise the voices and aspirations of vulnerable people enabling them to take control of, and improve their lives
    • To develop creative skills, produce and showcase high quality creative work and disseminate best practice.
    • To empower others in an inclusive way and to lead and influence the work of AAM and to and join the workforce either paid or unpaid;
    • To promote positive models of disability and disadvantage and raise awareness of difference and diversity
    • To reach out to, and influence audiences and policy makers alike and enrich the cultural life of the city and beyond.
