  • Mission statement

We are Sebastian’s Action Trust, an incorporated charity based in Hampshire. Our charity was developed from the vision of one very special nine-year-old boy who launched his last wish just twelve days before he died of cancer in 2003. Sebastian’s aim was to provide a place where life-limited children and their families can holiday together away from the rigours of hospital appointments, gruelling treatment schedules and prying eyes. Importantly for very sick children the home needed to be clean, safe and adaptable to meet their often complex physical and emotional needs. Sebastian’s vision was simple, yet vital for those facing the loss of a beloved child; he wanted to create a private place where memories could be made which would last a life-time, even if that life was to be cruelly cut short.

In 2011 Sebastian’s vision was finally realised and The Bluebells, the UK's first purpose-built respite holiday home, was completed. It supports families of children with complex health needs requiring wheelchair access and specialist medical equipment, coming from 46 counties of the UK. It has an indoor hydrotherapy pool with disabled access and we hold a range of specialist dry suits to enable children who have feeding and treatment tubes to access the pool. The house has a well stocked indoor games area, a home cinema, a multi-sensory room, a nine hole mini golf course, outdoor sensory garden and acres of beautiful gardens.

    • To provide specialist respite holidays so families with seriously-ill children can enjoy a holiday which meets their needs and enables them to make memories to last forever.
    • To offer bespoke practical support to assist family members caring for a life-limited child . The support is tailored towards the needs of each family, both individually and as a collective unit.
