Founded 2006

  • Mission statement

Alleviating sickness and poverty in former British Colonies, predominantly The Gambia, through education and medical care.

All of the projects are designed to be sustainable and it is a condition that the local communities provide volunteer labour and are involved in the conception, construction and management of each project.

  • Aims

    African Oyster Trust aims to:

    • We believe that education is the best route out of poverty. As there is no government provision for the 3-7 age group, we concentrate on nursery education to ensure a sound introduction to schooling.
    • At any age, good health is essential to maximise human potential and alleviate suffering. We help to provide affordable health care in remote rural communities which has also reduced avoidable deaths.
