Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity exists to benefit patients at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by providing those things that are "over and above" what is provided by the NHS. We fund equipment, facilities, research and patient comforts. These range from CyberKnife and TomoTherapy, two cutting edge cancer treatment machines, to Fisher House, our "home away from home" for military patients, world class research at the University of Birmingham and even pizzas for teenagers with cancer!

  • Mission statement

Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity (QEHB Charity) is the official charity of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

The charity’s mission is to improve patients' lives by supporting and improving the services by University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.

QEHB Charity exists to support medical and health research, and to encourage excellence in healthcare for patients and their carers, wholly or mainly through the services provided by University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, including support for the UK’s military patients who are treated at the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine.

All funding provided by QEHB Charity is over and above core NHS services. None of your donation is used to replace core NHS funding.

  • Aims

Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity aims to:

    • To fund cutting edge medical equipment, normally only found in Harley Street or US hospitals, that are not available on the NHS.
    • To provide facilities not normally seen in an NHS hospital, such as Fisher House, our "home away from home" for military patients, or the childrens' play area in a predominantly adult A&E department
    • To pump prime medical research that will allow our doctors and nurses to get initial data that will generate additional research funding in the future, or will make a difference to our patients now.
    • To provide those "added extras" that make your stay in hospital a bit more comfortable, such as free patient wi-fi, pizzas for the teenage cancer patients, or memory lane cafes for elderly patients
