St Martin-in-the-Fields is a landmark building with a vibrant community set in the heart of London. It welcomes over 700,000 visitors a year and is famous for an open and inclusive Christianity, prayer and worship, the care of homeless people, one of London’s busiest classical and jazz concert series, the atmospheric Café in the Crypt and shop.
Throughout the 20th century St Martin-in-the-Fields earned a reputation for challenging injustice and leading calls for social change. It supported regular protests challenging apartheid in South Africa, inspired the creation of Amnesty International, worked to found the national housing charity Shelter and helped launch the Big Issue. Also known as ‘the church of the ever open door’, it houses the Connection at St Martin-in-the-Fields, a centre working with thousands of homeless people every year. The Choir of St Martin-in-the-Fields is renowned for musical excellence and is one of the BBC’s most frequently broadcast choirs.
St Martin-in-the-Fields costs around £600,000 a year to maintain, and while all profits from our business contribute towards this cost, we still need to fundraise a significant sum each year through charitable giving. Your gift will help ensure the building remains open for all to enjoy, and support us as we find new and innovative ways to foster culture, education and social care within London and the wider world.
