Respite & Recovery UK
Respite & Recovery UK
Respite & Recovery UK provides a range of services for those who are going through treatment such as chemotherapy or have spent time on coping with serious illness, their carers & their families
Respite & Recovery UK is a young charity set up to provide support services, training, respite facilities and any ancillary services to carers and to people who are in recovery from life changing illnesses , their families and their carers. We respond to their needs by providing innovative projects that work for members of the community whose needs are often overlooked such as carers and people who have experienced illness:
We currently provide the following for our beneficiaries:
Breaks in self catering accommodation that can allow them to do all the things that we take for granted such as just catching up with friends or family which may be impossible at home.
Hobby Breaks for people who have had to miss these activities due to their own illness or caring for a family member. We aim to provide a range of courses for different interests including fitness, nutrition, dance, poetry, music, calligraphy, textiles and art appreciation. They will be able to join like minded people in a project that provides an opportunity to regain their sense of personal identity away from illness and the selfless task of caring for a loved one.
We find that these activities can help restore self esteem and help people on their road to recovery
We provide Advice & Support for people undergoing invasive treatments such as Chemotherapy alongside the care provided by their local hospital.. The Chemotherapy Home Care Kit Project fits into this category and will benefit a further 400 people
Respite & Recovery UK aims to:
- To improve the mental and physical well-being of our beneficiaries
- to provide support for patients going through chemotherapy by giving them a kit of useful iitems that help them to cope with possible side effects
- to give carers and people in recovery from long term illness an opportunity to enjoy a time in which to relax & reconnect with family, friends & a peaceful state of mind away from the scene of illness
- to raise awareness of the needs of carers and people who have survived serious illness so that they can continue to make progress.
