MAF aims to save the lives of vulnerable women and children in developing countries by providing innovative training and education through film.

Founded 2007

  • Mission statement

At MAF, we use advances in media and communication technologies to provide culturally sensitive practical medical training with up-to-date focused information through the power of film to address the specific problems of healthcare in the developing world.

Our philosophy is based on two Chinese proverbs: “Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime” & “A picture is worth a thousand words”.

Our motto could be “Tell me and I forget. Show me and I understand. Involve me and I remember”.

    We want to:

    - Produce comprehensive training and teaching materials culturally and practically adapted to different developing countries. These will address the wide range of needs from doctors and nurses to midwives and traditional birth attendants.

    - Distribute our films to those in need - providing sustainable training materials and skills which remain in communities and empower them. We work in partnership with NGOs and individuals to do this.

    - Make our materials widely available. Given the significant growth in landline and mobile telephones, many developing countries now have access to information using computers or mobile phones. We envisage electronic distribution of our medical information and teaching tools to the most remote communities, via health based organisations, NGOs and charities using mobile phones, ipods and other portable technologies.
