Hackney Marsh Partnership

HMP is a community development organisation and registered charity based in Homerton in Hackney which runs projects and services from the Kingsmead Kabin and the Concorde Centre for Young People.

Founded 1996

  • Mission statement

Hackney Marsh Partnership works to enable adults, children and young people to find their own ways through problems associated with poverty, prejudice and powerlessness. While we acknowledge the value of short-term projects in doing this, we recognise the need to work with local people to build up and sustain local services, resources and amenities in the long term.

Our aims are to work with local people to:

    • Achieve their economic, educational and social potential
    • Develop projects and services that tackle poverty, prejudice and powerlessness
    • Develop appropriate services to meet the needs of local residents
    • Foster active partnerships with individuals, community groups, statutory services and the private sector in pursuit of the above.
    • Encourage and nurture the potential, imagination and creativity in local people.

HMP’s current projects include East Hackney Advice, which provides advice services; Stepping Up Adults, where volunteers support people to use computers and the internet; Stepping Up Youth, which offers long term support to children and young people aged between 5 and 21 years in their educational, personal, and creative growth, and helps them develop their skills and confidence; Community Development, where we're working with Sanctuary Housing and local people to use local community centres to their fullest extent.
