Scottish Book Trust is a national charity that changes lives through reading and writing.

    We are working towards a Scotland where everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive through reading and writing, no matter what their background.

    In 18 years, we have enriched the health, wellbeing and life chances of millions of people in Scotland through our programmes.

  • Aims

    Scottish Book Trust aims to:

    • nurture Scotland’s writing talent through funding, mentoring and developing their work with our writers awards.
    • deliver a range of author events to encourage people to read and write for pleasure.
    • run Book Week Scotland, a week-long, national celebration of books and reading in every town in Scotland.
    • work with adults with low literacy to tackle social issues and help to improve their reading and writing skills through our Adult Learners programme and outreach work.
    • gift more than 1,000,000 free books each year to encourage the nation to read.
