20,000 Voices

20,000 Voices provides opportunities and development for singers and choirs at all levels, through:
community choirs, Silver Singers groups;
services for, eg, arts in health, prisons, etc;
special creative projects & collaborations;
training & CPD for choral & vocal leaders;
workshops and short courses (both general and specialist);
international residential summer school (exploring connections between early, folk & traditional music);
advocacy, consultancy & other resources and advice

  • Mission statement

    20,000 Voices promotes, supports and develops singing across Northumberland and the north east. It encourages activities which enhance the enjoyment of music and singing skills across a wide range of vocal styles and across the widest possible community.

    Singing is important:
     Singing is a basic human activity
     Singing develops physical, mental, social, emotional and creative capacities
     Singing promotes the healthy linking of these capacities
     Singing develops self-confidence and self-esteem
     Singing is enjoyable and anyone can do it

    Key activities:
     Advocacy - promoting the benefits of singing and encouraging others, including decision makers, to share our beliefs
     Developing Networks - offering singers and music leaders opportunities to learn from each other, and developing partnerships with other organisations
     Providing - delivering a strong programme of activity with energy, enthusiasm and efficiency.
