The Playhouse is one of Northern Ireland's most dynamic Art Centres.

Founded 1992

  • Mission statement

    The Playhouse was founded during 1992 by Artistic Director Pauline Ross with a grant of just £300.

    We have grown to become one of the most productive, vibrant, and loved Art Centres in Northern Ireland / Ireland.

    We deliver programmes of Theatre, Music, Comedy, Dance, Opera, Education, Outreach & Peace Building that impact locally, nationally and internationally.

    Founder and Artistic Director Pauline Ross was awarded an MBE during 2001 for services to the Arts & the Community.

    The Playhouse was the N. Ireland Winner and UK finalist of BBC Restoration 2004, and was awarded The Stage Award for Outstanding Achievement in UK Regional Theatre at the TMA Theatre Awards 2004.
