Mid Wales Opera

Mid Wales Opera has at its core a belief in bringing the very best live opera in high quality professional productions to to small and medium scale venues across Wales and England.

Founded 1988

  • Mission statement

Mid Wales Opera's mission is to bring opera of the highest standards to places which otherwise do not have access to it, thus reaching new audiences of all ages and enhancing the accessibility of live opera performance to those who already love it; and to offer opportunities to professional singers early in their career to master major roles, working from our base of Mid Wales.

Under the new artistic team of Jonathan Lyness and Richard Studer since September 2016 Mid Wales Opera's programme has extended to include a medium scale tour in the Spring and a small scale tour in the late Autumn.

  • Aims

    Mid Wales Opera aims to:

    • To stage high quality productions in smaller venues across Wales and England where professional live opera is rarely shown, thus reaching audiences who would not otherwise be able to experience it.
    • To play a part in sustaining a vibrant culture of live opera performance across the UK by offering invaluable training and career development opportunities to young artists specialising in opera.
