  • Mission statement

    Action on Disability - Life Beyond Barriers
    AoD has been going for 35 years and is run by and for disabled people. We provide essential services, campaign for equality and support disabled people to take up opportunities, make their own choices and live independently.
    Our services include: a challenging and well respected youth scheme for 11-25 year olds, essential benefits advice, advocacy, an employment programme offering supported internships and in-work support, peer support enabling disabled people to share their skills and experience and volunteering opportunities. We are based in Hammersmith & Fulham and work in 8 London boroughs.
    We also work with local and regional policy makers to ensure that disabled people's views and needs are taken into account.

    Action on Disability aims to:

    • To remove barriers for disabled people.
    • To support disabled people to achieve their goals and ambitions
    • To ensure that disabled people receive the support and care they need to lead independent lives.
    • To support disabled people to take up opportunities and realise their goals and ambitions.
    • To represent disabled people at local and regional levels to ensure that their views, needs and ambitions are included when policies are being developed.
