Founded 2002

  • Mission statement

Refugee Support Devon (RSD) is an independent local charity set up in 2001 by volunteers concerned about the wellbeing of refugees and asylum seekers living in Devon. We became a registered charity in May 2002 as Refugee Support Group Devon, which was updated to Refugee Support Devon when we became an incorporated charitable company in 2013.
    We aim to:
    1. Provide relief to refugees and their families living in Devon who are in conditions of hardship or distress.
    2. Support refugees and their families in settling in the local community and preserve and protect their wellbeing
    3. Provide a voice for the local refugee community
    4. Promote education of the general public about the issues relating to refugees and asylum seekers
    5. Offer a voluntary service with opportunities for training and skills development available to service users and the wider community

RSD is the only organisation exclusively offering direct support to refugees, asylum seekers and their families within the the Exeter area and throughout Devon. We employ two full-time and five part-time staff and approximately 80 volunteers, all under the strategic leadership of a Board of Trustees.
