CESO works with the community in Kaningo, Sierra Leone, to provide education for children and adults and support for the community to become self-sufficient.

Founded 2008

  • Mission statement

CESO (Community Empowerment Support Organisation Ltd) was set up to help the community in the Kaningo area of Sierra Leone, which is still suffering from the aftermath of the civil war, and is one of the poorest areas in the world. Our objectives are to improve the quality of life of the community, by ensuring that the children in the area receive an education, and to assist the community in becoming self sufficient.
In 2008 we set up a temporary school for over 300 children (the Ivor Leigh Memorial School), but the structure was not stable enough to be used in the rainy season. Since then we have raised enough funds to build a permanent structure, with the help of volunteer architects, and this will be completed before the end of 2011. Our current project is to raise an additional £10,000 to build a kitchen and allotment for the school, which will provide the children with a midday meal - many of them have nothing to eat during their school day.
We are a tiny charity run on a purely voluntary basis, and would appreciate any donation of any size!
