Social Firms UK

Support us and make a difference through enterprise! Social Firms UK is creating employment opportunities for severely disadvantaged people through the support and development of Social Firms around the UK. These are enterprises set up specifically to create paid employment for a minimum of one quarter of the workforce who are people otherwise excluded from the labour market and there are currently 151 of them in the UK - there were only 5 Social Firm businesses when we set up as a project in 1996! The 151 Social Firm businesses have created employment for more than 800 disabled and disadvantaged people and this is continuing to grow, under the guidance and support of Social Firms UK. As an organisation, Social Firms UK has two main roles: one is to create more awareness around Social Firms, publicise their products and services nationally, regionally and locally and the other is to undertake initiatives directly to help grow the number of businesses and improve the quality and sustainability of those businesses. As one type of social enterprise, Social Firms reinvest all their profit back into the businesses, and they will strive to meet the values of the sector: Enterprise, Employment and Empowerment.
