Good Food Matters

We believe that it is every child’s right to know how our food is produced and how to cook for their own health and the health of the world we live in. We teach young people in care, leaving care, young offenders and children at risk of offending, young carers, young homeless, young refugees, young people with learning difficulties including autism and NEET young people (not in education, employment or training), how to cook healthy meals. We have been working in Croydon for over 3 years and during this development period we have been constantly aware that our students are often isolated from their community, most are on low to very low incomes and cannot afford healthy food options. It is for this reason that we are currently fundraising to build a Community Food Learning Centre in a severely disadvantaged ward in Croydon that will educate and train local people how to grow, cook and market organic produce and enable our target groups to achieve long term outcomes that will have a positive impact on their health, wellbeing and future prospects in life. Croydon Council has given us permission to build the project on 6,000 sq meters of green space in New Adding/Fieldway, Croydon. We have £395,000 committed funds to date.
